Meet Gurnam

Gurnam Kaur –  instructor, alterationsGurnam
I come from a family of makers, crafters and artists.  We were always making something.  Everything was an opportunity for expressing our creativity, from breakfast to family vacations. My mother made a lot of the clothes for my sisters and I and even matching suits for my brother. I have embarrassing photos of us, all lined up in our matching outfits arranged from tallest to smallest.  I remember the clothes always being beautiful and always being embellished with some sort of handwork.  I  grew up loving to sew, embroider, knit, crochet, spin and weave, paint and draw.  In fact, I’ve rarely met a craft I didn’t like. I’ve lived all around the world and have a great interest in traditional handwork and natural fibers. It is exciting and important to me, especially in these current times, to find ways to re-use and re-purpose materials, which is one of the many reasons I’m so happy to be involved with The Bee.
